Jeremiah 6:16

Thus says the Lord: Stand in the ways and see, and ask for the old paths where the good way is, and walk in it; Then you shall find rest for your souls.

Why is RED the color of Christmas?

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.– Isaiah 9:6

Why is red the color of Christmas? It’s not because of Christmas lights, or holly berries, or Santa’s red suit.

Red is the color of the blood that flowed from Jesus’ wounds when He died for the sins of the world. The birth of Jesus was for the death of Jesus. The reason for the manger was the cross. Red represents His sacrificial love for you.

That’s the message we are privileged to bring to this world, both at Christmas time and throughout the year

Obedience or Independence?

If you love Me, keep My commandments.
— John 14:15
Our Lord never insists on obedience. He stresses very definitely what we ought to do, but He never forces us to do it. We have to obey Him out of a oneness of spirit with Him. That is why whenever our Lord talked about discipleship, He prefaced it with an “If,” meaning, “You do not need to do this unless you desire to do so.” “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself . . .” (Luke 9:23). In other words, “To be My disciple, let him give up his right to himself to Me.” Our Lord is not talking about Read more →

Ephesians 2:8-9

It is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast.
— Ephesians 2:8-9

Thoughts on today’s verse

Don’t you love gifts! When they’re truly given, with no strings attached, all we have to do is receive them. The greatest gift we’ve ever received has nothing to do with our efforts. It is a gift from God. We didn’t earn it, deserve it, or purchase it. God gave it through His Read more →

Sleepwalking

So be on your guard, not asleep like the others. Stay alert and be clearheaded.
— 1 Thessalonians 5:6
Have you ever gone sleepwalking? It is kind of scary, really—especially the next day when someone tells you what you did.

There are people in the church today who have gone to sleep. They are not watching the signs of the times. There is a lethargy, a passiveness—even a laziness—in some Christians. There is an apparent disconnect between their so-called spiritual lives and real lives. Instead of walking in the Spirit, some believers are sleepwalking.

We need to wake up. The Bible says, “So be on your guard, not asleep like the others. Stay alert and be clearheaded” (1 Thessalonians 5:6).

In other words, we need to wake up to the urgency of Read more →

The Third Heaven

I was caught up to the third heaven fourteen years ago. Whether I was in my body or out of my body, I don’t know–only God knows.
— 2 Corinthians 12:2

I read an article about a private foundation of astronomers and former astronauts who are building a space telescope that will orbit the sun and track the heavenly bodies that may threaten life on Earth. One of the astronauts was quoted as saying that in the first three weeks of operation, they would find more asteroids than have been found in the last 200 years.

But guess what they won’t find? The third heaven.

According to the Bible, there are three heavens. Paul writes about it in 2 Corinthians 12: “I was caught up to the third heaven fourteen years ago. Whether I was in Read more →
